USI team participated in an annual seminar organised by the Director General Assam Rifles on the theme “North East India: Gateway to South East Asia” on 25 March 2019 in Shillong, Meghalaya.

USI team participated in an annual seminar organised by the Director General Assam Rifles on the theme “North East India: Gateway to South East Asia” on 25 March 2019 in Shillong, Meghalaya. The USI team comprised Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd) Deputy Director (Research) and Head of Centre for Strategic Studies and Simulation (CS3) and Maj Gen RPS Bhadauria, VSM (Retd) Distinguished Fellow, USI.

Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya Shri Tathagata Roy delivered the keynote address. The opening address was delivered by Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, SM & Bar, Director General, Assam Rifles (DG, AR). Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd) spoke on “China’s Oceanic Forays through Myanmar, India’s Strategy to Balance”. Maj Gen RPS Bhadauria, VSM (Retd) spoke on “North East: A Strategic & Commercial Space for Cementing Ties with Bangladesh and Myanmar to stimulate Act East.” The other speakers were from military, academia, media and senior officers of Assam Rifles.
