Understanding Artificial Intelligence(AI)

Mohammed Zaid, Intern at USI writes AI is not about Men Vs Machine, the idea is that artificial intelligence enables you to complete more work in less time while you focus on developing your strategy, creativity, and interpersonal skills.

Artificial intelligence is a broad area of computer science that makes machines seem like they have human intelligence. It is the field that deals with building machines that can mimic human jobs, utilizing their previous data and information with no human assistance, which essentially reduces human effort. These machines are artificially incorporated with human like intelligence to perform task as we do. This intelligence is built using complex algorithms and mathematical functions.

Despite how intimidating it can appear, this technology is not brand-new. It has been a futuristic concept for the previous 50 years. Professor John McCarthy originally used the phrase “artificial intelligence” back in 1956. He assembled a team of mathematicians and computer scientists to investigate if machines might learn via trial and error, much like a young kid. They will discover ways to make machines “use language, form abstractions and concepts, solve kinds of problems now reserved for humans, and improve themselves,” according to the project proposal.

A few things over the previous few years have made AI the upcoming “big” thing: For instance, enormous volumes of data are produced each second. In actuality, in the last few years, 90% of the world’s data has been produced. And now that processing rates have improved, computers can really process all this data more fast. As a result, IT behemoths and venture capitalists have invested in AI and are flooding the market with new applications and investments. Very soon, AI will become a little less artificial, and a lot more intelligent.

A machine learns and develops over time much like a person does. But unlike a person, it is immune to problems like distractions, short-term memory loss, information overload, and sleep deprivation. You must develop a software to examine thousands of cases in order to design an algorithm in order to achieve intelligence similar to that of a human. If the algorithm succeeds in achieving its objective, it is then modified. The software truly improves with time.

Some software even replicates the neural networks seen in the human brain, which aid in problem-solving in both people and robots today. Generations have long speculated about the effects of AI, imagining a world in which robots seek vengeance and devastate human society. The more pertinent and important query is,

However: How will AI impact your career? Will it render your work redundant?

It’s not man versus machine, like during the Industrial Revolution. Humans and machines are up against the issue. The idea is that artificial intelligence enables you to complete more work in less time while you focus on developing your strategy, creativity, and interpersonal skills.
