A RTD with the visiting delegates from the Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, was organised by the USI on 03 August 2015 from 1000 to 1330 hrs.

A RTD with the visiting delegates from the Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, was organised by the USI on 03 August 2015 from 1000 to 1330 hrs. The opening remark was given by Lt Gen PK Singh, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), Director, USI. In the first session Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd) discussed “Terrorism in Af-Pak Region & its Implications on Regional Security”. He elaborated the trends in tracking terrorism, various political alliances prevailing in Afghanistan, the deteriorating security situation and the key criticalities and uncertainties in Afghanistan. From the Sichuan University Dr Huang Yunsong gave a Chinese perception on Afghanistan. He described the politico-social set up of Afghanistan and highlighted the global implications of terrorism.

Ambassador RS Kalha, IFS (Retd) in the second session discussed the ‘Drivers of India-China Relations: Challenges & Prospects’. He discussed four key issues namely border challenges, trade and commerce, regional security architecture and jihadism. In the final session Dr Yang Minghong described ‘China’s New Silk Route: One Belt One Road’ initiative. He also discussed ‘China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)’ and ‘Bangladesh, China, India, Myanmar (BCIM)’ economic belt. All the sessions were followed by a stimulating question answer session.
