Lt Gen PC Katoch, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SC (Retd) gave a presentation on the topic “Case Study of Special Operations – Implications for India” on 26 March 2019. He is researching under the Flying Officer Amandeep Singh Gill Chair at USI. The ‘Welcome Remarks’ were made by Lt Gen GS Katoch, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Distinguished Fellow, USI, and the session was Chaired by Lt Gen AK Ahuja, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM** (Retd), Senior Fellow, Delhi Policy Group.
In his presentation Lt Gen PC Katoch, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SC (Retd) highlighted the significance of ‘Special Operations Forces’ in modern warfare and also discussed certain ‘Special Operation Missions’ like – Op ‘Gunnerside’ – Norwegian Sabotage of Hitler’s Atomic Bomb (February 1943), Op ‘Eiche’ – German Rescue of Benito Mussolini (September 1943) etc. This was followed by a free and frank discussion where participants actively participated. The concluding remarks were given by Lt Gen GS Katoch, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd). The event was attended by officers from service headquarters and researchers from various think tanks.
