A 93-member Higher Command Course delegation from Indonesian National Defence Force Command and Staff College visited USI on 01 May 2019. The delegation was led by First Marshal Firdaus Syamsudin. The welcome remarks were made by Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd), Deputy Director (Research) and Head of Centre for Strategic Studies and Simulation, USI.
Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Distinguished Fellow gave a presentation on “Emerging Dynamics in the Indo-Pacific: An Indian Perspective” in which he discussed the expanding Chinese maritime footprints under BRI, China’s dream and strategy to achieve the same, Chinese strategic continuum under Xi Jinping and Implications and options for India. It was followed by a free and frank discussion Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd) made the concluding remarks. The two sides exchanged Mementos after the session.
