A 16 member Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) Defence College delegation led by Maj Gen Ezeldin Osman Taha Elfaki visited USI on 01 October 2019. The welcome remarks were made by Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd), Dy Director (Research) & head, Centre of Strategic Studies and Simulation (CS3).
Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Distinguished Fellow, USI spoke on the issue of growing Chinese imprints in Africa. He discussed Chinese involvement in Sudan, particularly in Oil industry, and implications for Sudan and Indo-Sudan relations. It was followed by a presentation by Cdr Subhasish Sarangi, Research fellow, USI on “Maritime Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific Region: An Indian Perspective” in which he highlighted India’s growing maritime capabilities and outreach in the Indo-Pacific. He also discussed India’s expanding bilateral and multilateral ties and activities in the region. It was followed by a free and frank Q&A session. The closing remarks were given by Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd).
