Sharad Tewari writes: The Kashmiri American Council (KAC), an organisation based in Washington, D.C., was formed by some members of the Kashmiri diaspora with funding, reportedly from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency of the Pakistani Military as mentioned in the linked article. In July 2011, as per an FBI investigation, it was found to an illegal front for the ISI. Its Executive Director, Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai, an American citizen of Kashmiri origin, was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on 19 July 2011, for concealing transfer of USD 3.5 million from ISI to fund his illegal lobbying efforts and influence the US government on the Kashmir conflict in violation of Foreign Agents Registration Act. He is now out of jail and one needs to keep a watch on the activities of this organisation.
