A joint USI-CIPRI (YCAR, York University), Canada discussion on “Non-Traditional Concerns” was organised on 07 March 2018 at USI.
Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan, AVSM, VSM,(Retd), Distinguished Fellow , USI commenced the session with his welcoming and opening remarks.
Inaugural remarks were made by Dr. Nivedita Das Kundu, Director, CIPRI
Later, presentation on “Climate Change” was made by Dr.Dawn R. Bazely, University Professor, York University, Canada. Followed by presentation on “Radiation and Health” by Dr. Dale Dewar, Associate Professor, University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
In the subsequent presentation, Dr Nivedita Das Kundu discussed on “Role of Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) for Eliminating Chemical Weapons Stockpiles”
Later, a presentation on “Nuclear Terrorism: Threat in South Asia” was made by Dr Roshan Khanijo, Senior Research Fellow & Research Coordinator, USI, India. In the final presentation of the event, Brig Narender Kumar, SM, VSM (Retd), Distinguished Fellow, USI, India presented on “Non Traditional Security Threats in South Asia.”
This was followed by a Question & Answer Session where the participants discussed the evolving contemporary issues. The closing remarks were given by the Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan, AVSM, VSM,(Retd), Distinguished Fellow , USI.
