ISIS in Pakistan: Here’s why China should be more worried than India

Amid news that ISIS has repoortedly recruited up to 12,000 people from the restive Balochistan province of Pakistan, it is high time that all state actors get on board to fight the menace of this new virulent form of terrorism for security in the region.

With ISIS having repoortedly recruited up to 12,000 people from the restive Balochistan province of Pakistan, the threat to all the countries in the region (particularly Pakistan) cannot be overstated.

The news may be even more disconcerting for China than India becuase ISIS already has more recuits from the former who can pose a major threat to that country on return.

Wu Sike, China’s special envoy to the Middle East, recently remarked that up to 100 Chinese citizens may be fighting for ISIS; most of whom, if not all, are Uighurs from Xinjiang, China’s restive Muslim dominated region.

This is indeed a disconcerting development and it is high time that most state actors in the region come on board and together fight the menace of this virulent new scourge of terrorism that could seriously undermine security for all states in the region. We invite your comments on this important matter.
