Since the past two decades an increasingly sophisticated Indian audience is demanding greater historical accuracy and integrity in the narratives of war films made in India. Producers of war documentaries, and dramatic war films often hire military consultants to advise on weapons, tactics, uniforms, locations, props, speech & dialect and content accuracy. An individual consultant may often err because of lack of an inadequate institutional support. The United Service Institution of India (USI) has the oldest military library in India set up in 1870 and a dedicated team of historians and military veterans with varied combat experience from the Army, Navy and Air Force. It can help in all aspects of historical and technical correctness including script writing. The consulting will be done by through its dedicated vertical The Centre for Military History and Conflict Studies (CMHCS). The CMHCS can carry out both consulting as well as content and script writing on the history of the Indian Armed Forces in the periods, Post-independence, 1900-1947 AD, 1750-1900 AD and prior to 1750 AD. The research assistance and consultation fees will be decided on a case-to-case basis depending on the assessment by our team of specialists.
