Dr. Roshan Khanijo's academic qualification includes BSc, MA and PhD. Her topic for the doctoral thesis was "Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and Developing Countries – A Critical Appraisal" She is the author of a book "Complexities and Challenges of Nuclear India" She was the member of the study team which did the Net Assessment on China and South Asia. She has been a panelist in Panel Discussions on nuclear issues. She presented a paper in the seminar organized by CIISS (China Institute for International and strategic Studies) in Beijing .She also took part in the discussions held by CICIR (China Institute of Contemporary International Relations) in Beijing. She has taken guest lectures for Jindal International University .Currently she is working as a Research Fellow at USI.

USI team Participated in National Security Seminar held at the National Police Academy (NPA) , Hyderabad from 25 June 2018 to 29 June 2018

The USI team participated in a week long National Security Seminar organised byNational Police Academy (NPA) for senior police, central police, military, intelligence and civil services officers. The major themes of the seminar were National Security a macro view, internal security, external security challenges .border management, cyber security, maritime security, nuclear security, economic security, energy security, media security, Pak China Strategic Nexus.

The Mysterious Indian Submarine Group

Subhasish writes, one among the six foreign companies that have submitted preliminary design proposals to assist Taiwan in making it submarines is a mysterious Indian Group. Mysterious because nothing much has been mentioned in the news piece about this group. It is qualified by only one sentence – “The Indian team has experience with the diesel submarines in service in the Indian Navy”. It is definitely not clear as to which is this Indian team, with experience with diesel-electric submarines in the Indian Navy, that has submitted the preliminary proposal.

Col Shaman writes, as Pakistan prepares for general elections for 342-seat Pakistan National Assembly in a week’s time, it is clear that the powerful Pakistan Army has joined hands with other two strong institutions of the country i.e the Judiciary and the Election Commission to benefit Imran Khan’s PTI and other extremist political parties – Lashkar-e-Taiba supported Milli Muslim League (through Allaha-u-Akbar Tehreek), Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan and ultra-conservative Muttahida Majlis–e–Amal, all of which have entered the electoral arena this year seeking to benefit from the discrediting of the PML-N and PPP, with adequate propping up by Rawalpindi.

USI Conducted an Internship Programme from 04 June to 03 July 2018 at USI

USI conducted an internship programme for the students of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar and O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) from 04 June to 03 July 2018 at USI. A selected number of students from Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, Pune, Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Jamia Millia Islamia and Miranda House, University of Delhi also participated in the programme.
