Welcome remarks were made by Lt Gen PK Singh, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), Director, USI. In the first session, Shri Sanjay Singh, IFS (Retd) spoke on “Indian Politico – Diplomatic Perspective of the Indo-Pacific Region.” In his presentation he talked about adjustment of India’s politico-diplomatic orientation to the change in the Indo-Pacific region. He explained on India’s preference for an open, inclusive, rule-based structure that safeguards peace and security. He further elaborated on the importance of adhering to international laws (UNCLOS) and keeping the SLOC’s safe and secure. In the subsequent presentation, Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Distinguished Fellow, USI spoke on “India-China Entente Cordial: Towards achieving an Asian Century.” He highlighted the importance of building cordial relation based on each other’s convergences, and maturely keeping each other’s sensitivity in mind. He further suggested that the two countries should work to reduce the divergences in order to build strategic trust.

It was followed by an interactive Q&A session in which participant had free and frank discussion. Maj Gen Dong Lianshan, Commandant of Joint Operational Studies College, NDU, thanked both the speakers for their elaborate assessments, and the USI for conducting the event. It was followed by closing remarks by Lt Gen PK Singh, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), Director, USI.
