A 22-member Korean National Defence University (KNDU), Korea delegation visited USI on 05 Sep 2018. The delegation was headed by Mr Moon Jang Nyeol, Professor, KNDU.
Welcome remarks were made by Lt Gen P K Singh, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), Director, USI. It was followed by a presentation by Cdr S Sarangi, Research Fellow, USI on “The Prospects of the Blue Economy in the Indian Ocean Region,” in which he explained the term Blue Economy, and why it is important in the Indian Ocean Region. He further highlighted some national and some multilateral efforts on the Blue Economy.
In the subsequent presentation Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Distinguished Fellow, USI gave a talk on “Emerging Dynamics of the Indo-Pacific Region.” He highlighted the emerging dynamics in the East China Sea, South China Sea, South Pacific and Indian Ocean. He further dwelt on the Chinese push to gain geostrategic space in this region and its implication for India.
It was followed by a Q&A session. The closing remarks were made by Lt Gen P K Singh, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), Director, USI.
