USI the oldest think tank of India has signed an MOU with Assam Rifles, the oldest Para Military Force in India. Under this MOU an ‘Assam Rifles Chair of Excellence’ has been created to conduct research in the field of conflict studies, national security, socio-economic and cultural fields, with the focus being on North Eastern region and its neighbourhood including South East Asia.
A function to commemorate this event was held on 15 Feb 2020 at Manekshaw Centre. Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, AVSM, SM & Bar, Director General Assam Rifles signed the MOU on behalf of Assam Rifles and Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM & Bar (Retd), Director USI, signed from USI side. The participants from USI included Lt Gen GS Katoch, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd) and Maj Gen Rajiv Narayanan, AVSM, VSM (Retd)
